Blask Sync is a free menu bar app that turns your Philips Hue lights into an ambilight for your screen, or makes them move with the music your Mac plays.
The lights behind your monitor follow the edges of the picture.
Philips' own Hue Sync app for Mac is no longer supported. Blask Sync was made to keep your lights in sync with your screen and music on today's macOS, as a small, free and open-source app.
Choose Screen, Music or Manual and press Start. Blask Sync streams colors to your lights over the Hue Entertainment API, so they react without lag.
Strips behind your monitor follow its edges and lamps around it pick up the mood of the scene.
Your lights ripple with whatever your Mac is playing: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, anything.
Paint your lights yourself on a color wheel with a pin for every light, or pick a ready-made scene.
Place each light around a picture of your monitor. Each one follows the part of the screen you point it at.
While you arrange them, each real light glows in the color of its marker, so you always know which is which.
Every segment of a Hue gradient strip gets its own color. Lamps beside the screen blend toward the whole picture.
Stop syncing and your lights return to how they were before, or switch off if you prefer.
No windows in your way. Sync keeps running in the background, and the icon lights up while it does.
Everything happens on your Mac and your home network. Your screen and audio never leave your computer.
Get the latest zip, unzip it and move Blask Sync to your Applications folder.
